NM MEMS Toolkit Overview

Toolkit

The NM MEMS Planning Toolkit provides guidance for medical surge response plan development by further describing all eleven NM MEMS functions as plan development strategies. Each function is described uniformly using a “goal statement” followed with a “why,” “who,” “when,” “where,” and “how” format. These functions are response strategies to address overwhelming patient surge and to be incorporated into an individual community’s medical surge response plan.

A subject matter expert (SME) has been identified for each function to provide additional assistance and linkage with state planning. A section titled “Questions for Consideration During Assessment and Planning” has been developed to stimulate thinking about the information needed during the plan development. In some cases, a sample tool is included to illustrate how a community might collect specific information to support and inform plan development.

At the end of each function, there are actual tool examples, articles, and resource information from other communities or government agencies related to that function.
